From the Des Moines Register:

Two people have been arrested after police found a skimmer, a device installed in ATMs to steal credit card information, at a QuikTrip in West Des Moines.

Evaldo Cardozo Da Silva, 40, and Jamily Silva Sousa, 26, were charged with identity theft, forgery and credit card fraud, among other offenses,

Fraud investigators found the skimmer device May 25 at an ATM in the gas station at 1451 22nd St. after a customer reported having issues with a card. West Des Moines police have taken on 30 cases from victims who said their bank accounts and credit cards were compromised.

The two suspects were taken into custody Friday afternoon. Police said investigators found common trends in the case while working with people in the business community.

West Des Moines police Lt. Anthony Giampolo has said surveillance footage showed the skimmer being placed by a man with a beard wearing a pink hat and jacket. The skimmer police found had Bluetooth, so the perpetrator could park nearby to retrieve the information, Giampolo said.
